Free School Memories Printable Journal

My five-year-old just started school this year, I have to confess that, with the pandemic still going on and knowing that my baby was going to be without mommy, daddy or grandma for the first time was nerve-wracking. But I knew that starting kindergarten was a big step, it is part of growing. Although I don’t get to be with her to enjoy every moment, I do have the opportunity to save and treasure little moments and memories for future years.

So I started filling out a school journal for her, and today I share with you a printable version to help you and your little one save memories and keepsakes from her/his school years, from kindergarten to 12th grade. And of course… it’s bilingual.

Let me tell you a little bit more about it, you will see the link to download the free printable at the bottom of this post.

What it is

This is a downloadable PDF file meant to be printed and put in a binder. It is composed of 54 pages. I also recommend adding 13 sheet protectors or folders to serve as dividers and pockets for keepsakes.

The 54 printable pages include:

  • 1 Cover page
  • 1 Property page
  • 4 pages per grade level
  • Grade cover page
  • All About Me page
  • Reflections page
  • Photos page

What you need

School Memories Bilingual Journal PDF– Get it for free, you will find the link at the bottom of this post.

A binder– I recommend a 1-inch binder with a clear view. Amazon has them for less than $10,but of course, you might be able to find them cheaper at Walmart or a dollar store.

Sheet protectors or folders– You will need one for each grade you will be printing, so you’ll print kinder to 12th grade, you’ll need 13.

A hole puncher

A printer. If you don’t have one, you can print the pages at your local library or print shop.

What to do

1. Print the free PDF.

For this step, you can either print all the pages of the PDF or print only the first and second pages (which are the cover page and property page), along with the school years your child needs to attend. For example, if your child is a 3rd grader, you might choose to print only the pages from 3rd to 12th grade, along with the cover page and property page.

2. Place the Cover page inside the clear cover of the Binder.

The cover page is the first page of the PDF. If you couldn’t find a binder with a clear view, feel free to glue the Cover page to the front of the binder you have.

3. Hole-punch the rest of the sheets.

4. Insert the sheets into the binder.

Make sure the following order is followed:

  1. Cover page of the grade
  2. All About Me page
  3. Reflections page
  4. Photos page

5. Insert the sheet protectors.

There should be a sheet protector after each Photos page. This will not only serve as a divider from one grade to another, but it will also allow you to save your child’s keepsakes for that grade. Some ideas of keepsakes you can save are awards, classwork, photos, etc.

You’re all set! You’re ready to start making memories last for years and years to come.

A little more about the pages…

Cover page. This is the cover page, intended to be placed on the cover of the binder.

Property page. On this page, your little one will be writing down his/her name.

Grade Cover page. This page serves as a cover page for each grade. It indicates the school grade and has a space to write down whom your child’s teacher for that year is, the school name, and the year (i.e. 2022-2023). It also has a box to list the items you will be saving in the protection sheet as keepsakes.

All About Me page

This page is to be filled out on the first day of school. It could also be filled out a few days before school starts and during the first weeks of school.

Reflections page

At the end of the school year, your kid will have the opportunity to reflect on the things he learned, the people he met, and the things he liked and made him laugh.

Photos page

Use this page to paste photos taken during the course of the school year, such as the yearbook photo, the crazy-hair-day photo, etc.
